Shelby Swanson, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #112739, California Board of Behavioral Sciences
Shelby Swanson Therapy is based in Santa Barbara, California. My own sessions are held by telehealth for clients physically located in California.
Background
Shelby's career spans individual psychotherapy, behavioral health leadership, substance use treatment, and clinical supervision. This work has included supporting people through substance use, severe mental illness, life transitions, and emotional and behavioral difficulties.
Shelby also has extensive experience supervising and mentoring newer therapists, overseeing behavioral health programs, and supporting the use of evidence-based practices.
Beyond clinical work, Shelby volunteers with the American Red Cross, is trained in Disaster Mental Health, and has served in leadership roles with the Santa Barbara Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
What Supervision Means
Clinical supervision is a standard part of becoming a fully licensed therapist in California. Associates accrue clinical hours under the supervision of a licensed clinician.
